CHANGE
"I started using magazine sales for ASB fund raising in 1983 and steadfastly used the QSP Program for all 16 years at the two junior high schools at which I worked. I was loyal to that company and yearly had the highest gross or dollar-to-pupil average each year. Therefore it was hard for me to shift to a new program. I was extremely surprised with Jim's professionalism, enthusiasm, creativity and his ability to relate to both students and staff. I feared that without Readers Digest on our list, we'd lose customers. That provided NOT to be true! Y.E.S. provided the best service, followed through with every promise, was very organized at each turn and offered a fun-filled sale for the entire school"
David Robinson (Leota Junior High Assistant Principal)
"We had previously worked with another company for many years and it was rather frightening to make a change to a new company. However, I am very glad that we took a risk and made the change. Jim was in tune with what motivates kids because he listened to the student leaders in our school. More importantly, he provided outstanding support for me so that I had to spend very little time administering the program. I will be calling on Y.E.S. and Jim Young for next year's fundraiser.
Diana Johnsen (Redmond Junior High ASB)
"I have been involved in doing the magazine drive in junior high schools for the last 4 years. We did not use Y.E.S. the first 2 years and they were an absolute nightmare. My ASB secretary, several parents and myself would put in hours of overtime trying to sort through prize distribution, orders, money totals and the whole nine yards. I dreaded the magazine drive. However, when Jim came on board last year. It was a dream come true."
Andrea Gleich (Dean of Students Kenmore Junior High)
SUPPORT
"The support, friendly attitude and patience of Jim and his staff were very professional and much appreciated. As an assistant principal who is actively involved in our student success, the constant overseeing of a major fundraiser like this was virtually eliminated. Jim's staff worked in tandem with our PTSA to both publicize and run the program for our school. Based on this year's sales increase and customer service level I would recommend Jim Young and Y.E.S. without reservation."
Victor Scarpelli (Assistant Principal of Finn Hill Junior High)
"The presence of Y.E.S. staff members for the duration of the fundraiser ensures flexibility and attention to detail throughout the event. As a former teacher, Jim understands the need for schools to make fundraisers exciting for students and easy for teachers, administrators, and volunteers. The Y.E.S. staff also listens to the school's needs, ensuring that the fundraiser is a community- building event that the school can use to set a positive tone for the school year."
Bill Dunbar (Assistant Principal of Einstein Middle School)
"Since we decided to try Jim Young's Y.E.S. program this year, my October looks very different than in past years. It has been a refreshing change. He provided support by assigning a full-time helper to the school. Jim did virtually ALL the organization that previously had responsibility for. Lori Ostrom (assigned helper) was wonderful and has taken the burden off of me so that valuable administrative time is not lost to accounting for all the minute details of the school-wide fundraiser."
Lori Simmons (Associate Principal of Einstein Junior High)
PROFIT
"...Finally, the bottom line with all fundraisers is the profit. We doubled the net profit to the student coffers due to the increased percentage Y.E.S. offered our school. This will allow us to support more activities at a higher rate."
Gretchen Rowe (Assistant Principal of Timbercrest Junior High School)
"The marketing plan that Jim and our leaders developed this year worked. How well did it work? We nearly doubled our sales from last year! We love the problem of having more money in ASB than we budgeted."
Ronald Mahan (Principal of Rose Hill Junior High)
"I have had the pleasure of working with Jim Young on our school-wide fundraiser this year. Our school of just over 800 students did a magazine drive through his company Youth Enrichment Services in October with unprecedented sales of over $83,000, an increase of over $30,000 from our previous record."
Diana Johnsen (ASB Advisor and Activity Coordinator of Redmond Junior High)
INCENTIVES
"Students were happier with prizes in this program than in any program over my past decade here. The bottom line was that we brought in almost $73,000 and Y.E.S. carried the cost of all prizes! If you are looking for the best fundraising program for your students with the most generous rewards and the greatest amount of help, I suggest that you consider Youth Enrichment Services. You will never go back!"
Lori Simmons (Associate Principal of Einstein Middle School)
"The success of the drive rests with the excellent package of incentives that Jim has put together for the students. Jim meets with the students in late June and again in August to get input into the prizes that they think the students will like."
Bruce DuBois (Assistant Principal of Canyon Park Junior High School)
"Jim involves the parent and student communities in the initial planning of the sale. He tailors the particulars of the sale on information he learns at these planning meetings. Holy Rosary is a K-8 school, and because 8th graders have been selling magazines for eight years, their enthusiasm typically wanes a bit. However this year, after conducting the assembly and having helped select the rewards, the 8th graders led the way-selling more magazines than any other class. Their example, plus the new rewards/incentive program helped motivate the rest of the students to get more involved in this year's sale."
Kris Brown (Principal of Holy Rosary School)
PRESENTATION
"Jim's magazine presentation to the student body was impressive. His ability to excite and motivate students about participating in our magazine drive was unmatched by any other fundraiser I have been associated with. Kids were motivated because he made the selling process simple, provided a quality product to sell at bargain prices and awarded great prizes to students on each turn-in day."
Michael Sauer (Dean of Students of Leota Junior High)
"Jim is terrific at communicating with kids. In particular I appreciate that Jim will take the time to interact with our ASB officers and advisors. In the large group (assembly) setting, Jim comes across as a "Real Person" rather than the stereotypical slick sales representative."
Ronald Mahan (Principal of Rose Hill Junior High School)
"We have never done a kick-off assembly before, but this year our principal said it was OK. I was worried because I thought the teachers might object to giving up class time for a fundraising assembly. But to my delight after the assembly I had numerous teachers tell me how wonderful they thought it went. They were very impressed with the way Jim kept 500 students under control while at the same time really informing them about the program."
